Weekend Adventures

So far, our weekend activities have included smaller day trips and a couple of camping trips. The changing seasons will probably require that we begin searching for other activities. I enjoy the unplanned trips that we go on the most. These are often based on the desire to see a certain village or building, and a lack of information necessitates extreme flexibility and freedom from an itinerary. It is also an excellent means to learn more about Albanian culture. Many of these trips lead to places that are not frequented by outside Albanians, let alone foreigners. Thus, it is a window to a different side of Albanian culture, one that has seen less influence from the outside. It gives us the unique opportunity to share a little of American culture with Albanians and for them to reciprocate, sharing a unique perspective of Albanian culture.
